Mr Nick Cawrse FRCS (Plast)​

Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Royal Devon University Hospital for 11 years specialising in skin cancer, breast reconstruction and general plastic surgery. He graduated from Newcastle Medical School and completed surgical and specialist training in the Southwest with time spent in Western Australia and East Grinstead at the end of training.​​​​​

  • Breadth of plastic surgery practice by exploring various sub-specialties within the field

  • Fundamental concepts of the ladder of reconstruction in plastic surgery including free tissue transfer, skin grafts, primary closure, and flaps

  • Principles of microsurgery

  • Development of comprehensive treatment plans for patients requiring reconstructive procedures, considering functional and aesthetic outcomes

Plastic Surgeon currently working as the Lower Limb Reconstruction Fellow at North Bristol Trust. He has recently passed the FRCS consultancy exams and his interests are in reconstruction, trauma and sarcoma.

  • Common types of lower limb injures including open fractures, soft tissue damage, neurovascular injuries and compartment syndrome

  • Clinical anatomy of the lower limb and the functional significance in trauma

  • Basic wound care techniques relevant to lower limb trauma including irrigation and debridement

  • Pathophysiology, presentation and management of compartment syndrome

  • Indication of flaps and skin grafts in lower limb reconstruction•Indications for vascular repair and techniques including anastomosis and bypass
