IMPACT: Insights and Management Perceptions of Amputation Care Training National Research Collaborative

01

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

In collaboration with PRASSA and Blesma (A British charity that helps all serving and ex-Service men and women who have lost limbs, or lost the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support). We are exploring undergraduate exposure and perceptions to amputations and amputee care in the form of a national survey of final-year medical students. The feedback will help us identify areas for improvement and enhance the preparation of future doctors to care for patients with amputations.

02

THIS RESEARCH AIMS TO:

  • Assess the current state of amputation care teaching within undergraduate medical curricula in the UK.

  • Evaluate students' confidence levels in managing various aspects of amputation care.

  • Identify barriers to effective learning about amputation care.

The findings will be used to inform the development of recommendations for enhancing amputation education and improving patient care.
